Busy, Busy, Busy

I'm oh so late in posting my blog this week. The Spring yarn has been arriving and in order to keep Cory from quitting, I've been helping her catalog it all and helping her find places to put it. I ordered a lot of Spring yarn...

You've got to come by and see it all because if I take the time now to tell you all about it, Cory will walk out on me. She's trying to put out all of the new books right this minute and she's not happy. Yarn and books, yarn and books.

Oh, and by the way, to appease her, lots of lovely yarn has ended up in the sale bins. If I hear, "Mom, there's no room, put it on sale" one more time, my head will explode.

I'm just about to start the cuff of the last sleeve on the Dale baby sweater! It will be done today - so there! I also started two new sweaters for myself with new Spring yarn, I'm hesitant to say. Rehab may be in order. I'm hopeless.

Afghan A Go-Go!

We're halfway done (as of next week) with the Great American Aran Afghan! We've completed 10 beautiful squares. Ten down, ten to go. Woo hoo!

See them all here.

And if that weren't enough, I now have the completed Great American Afghan on permanent display at the Shop compliments of my friends at Cascade. The Great American Afghan, like the Great American Aran Afghan, was first seen in Knitter's Magazine and was then published in a pattern book. Each square is knit in Cascade 220 and were designed by such notables as Meg Swanson, Lily Chin, Nancy Bush, Nicky Epstein, and Sally Melville.

It's really something and you should stop by to see it. Call or write if you're interested in classes.

The sale bins are full, full, full! I've received another gigantic shipment of Spring yarn and Miss Cory is desperately trying to make room for it all. There's another shipment due early next week! Miss Cory is freaking out.

One of the new yarns just in is Cascade's Pima Tencel. It's unbelievably soft and luxurious. Naturally, I've already picked out a pattern and I'm swatching for it as you read this! Here's what I chose from the Vogue Knitting Spring issue. Pretty magnificent, isn't it? I chose a raspberry color that is just to die for.

I know, I know, finish the Dale Baby Sweater! I'm getting to it, honestly I am.

What a Whirlwind!

So much going on! First and foremost, the Yarn Harlot is coming! We are so excited to be hosting an evening with her. There are still tickets available so don't delay! All of the detailed information can be seen here. The Shop will be open on Sundays through March 30 from 12:00-4:00 for those of you who are making a road trip.

The Interweave Spring Knits Trunk Show is here and 17 of the garments from the magazine will be on display until Saturday, March 29.

The Spring yarn is starting to come in and I just received this big box from Lorna's Laces! Hurry in to see it before Cory takes it all home. Sadly, I can no longer trust her with new yarn. She squirrels it out of the Shop before it ever hits the shelves. I'm afraid I've created a knitting monster and by the way, she has very, very good taste.

Although my conscience (Theresa) would say I'm stalling on finishing the darling Dale of Norway baby sweater, I've accomplished quite a bit recently:

I started and finished this Zipped Vest by Veronik Avery from her book Classic Style. The zipper has been basted in and it just needs be permanently stitched. The yarn is Cascade 200 hand paint and I'm just thrilled with the colors.

To make sure the zipper went in nice and straight I basted the front closed. Do you remember the yarn with which I basted it? That's right, it's the yarn I chose for the Prince's never to be finished socks. To know why they'll never be finished, click here. I knew I'd find uses for it.

I made this felted clog:

I completed another square for the Great American Aran Afghan:

And we're almost half way done! Just for fun, I laid it all out today and I must say I do love it. The picture doesn't do it justice, but if you stop by I'll show you all the squares!

It's shaping up to be a great Spring.

The Yarn Harlot is Coming!

It is with tremendous excitement that I announce that the Yarn Harlot is coming to Oak Lawn! We are hosting her visit on April 25, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Oak Lawn Hilton. Check out all the details here.

Stephanie Pearl-McPhee will be signing copies of her new book, Things I Learned From Knitting (whether I wanted to or not) after her talk. The book can be preordered at Nana's.

And...as if that weren't enough, we are also hosting the Interweave Knits Spring Trunk Show beginning on Tuesday, March 18 through Saturday, March 29. Be sure to stop by to see all the lovely things from this issue. Buy the yarn for a project from the magazine and take 10% off.

It's going to be a great Spring, isn't it?
